Every year at Thanksgiving our family makes turkey because that is just what you do! But I finally had enough and decided to pivot this year to something that is much easier to nail and is much tastier in our opinion. This fall apart, juicy pork roast is cooked in apple cider which makes for the perfect Fall entree and will wow your dinner guests every time!

Ingredients

Directions

1.
Preheat oven to 350F
2.
Season the roast with salt & pepper on all side
3.
Heat a large Dutch oven with oil over medium heat
4.
Sear all sides until browned, about 3-5 mins each side
5.
Add the cider, herbs, cinnamon, onion and celery to your pot, the roast should be partly submerged in the braising bath, it doesn’t need to be fully covered.
6.
Cover pot with lid and place in the oven for 1 hr/lb, roughly 3.5 hours
7.
When internal temperature reaches about 195F, remove from oven & shred
8.
Serve with with mashed potatoes & veggies or side of choice

Recipe Tips!

  • This recipe can also be made in a slow cooker on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours
  • Feel free to add carrots or any veggie of your choice right into the pot when you’re cooking this
  • Don’t forget to drizzle some of the delicious juices this cooks in over the meat when you serve!
